THE PURSUIT OF COLOUR

What does it mean to paint when you can’t truly see colour? The Pursuit of Colour is my very first short documentary, created as part of a film assignment. It’s a 5-minute portrait of Brett Williams, a painter and actor who is colour-blind. Through intimate voiceover and textured visuals of his studio, the film explores how Brett navigates the challenges of colour perception, the emotions tied to what he cannot see, and the honesty he brings to every canvas. Far from being a limitation, his colour blindness becomes part of his artistic language, reminding us that art is not about perfection, but about truth.
